Inverted Nipple Repair is the repairing of the inversion of the nipple which is caused by a short milk duct system running from the chest wall to the nipple.

How is the Inverted Nipple Repair procedure performed? |
|
There are two ways to do this procedure, partial preservation of the milk ducts or detached milk ducts. During the partial preservation of the milk ducts the nipple and areola tissue will be lifted from the breast then stitched into a new projection of a purse-string style of suturing. Because the nipple has a circular shape the scar contracture will actually increase rather than decrease the nipple projection.
The second way is done by an incision made at the nipple base then the shortened milk ducts are detached, allowing a natural-looking projection of the nipple. The incision is then sutured up and closed thus finishing the procedure.
