BLEPHAROPLASTY (EYE LID SURGERY) RECOVERY INFORMATION
1. After surgery, you will be sent home with no dressing on your eyes.
2. Sleep with head of the bed elevated or your head on two (2) pillows. 3. Rest for the first 24 hours. It is normal to feel tired for several days. You may read or watch TV if you wish
4. Take medications according to instructions on the bottles. Remember NO Aspirin.
5. You may eat anything you like. Be sure to drink lots of fluids.
6. Avoid smoking for a minimum of one (1) week after surgery to prevent coughing, bleeding and skin damage.
7. DO NOT put ointment on incisions unless instructed to do so.
8. You may shampoo your hair with any mild product on the second day after surgery. Shampoo whenever you wish after that.
9. You may expect…
- Moderate discomfort – take pain medications prescribed - Moderate swelling - Moderate bruising and discoloration – use ice packs or gel eye masks on the eyes continuously for the first 12-24 hours - Blood shot eyes - Slight oozing of blood-tinged fluid; slight itching and burning 10. If you experience severe pain, sudden or progressive swelling (particularly on one side), bright red bleeding that does not stop or nausea beyond 24 hours – DO NOT HESITATE to call your Doctor.
